In order to create a seamless transition from the existing church to the new education spaces, Harwood designed a distribution system which was added to the existing electrical service. The existing fire alarm system was modified and expanded as well. Coordination with the owner’s security and AV vendors was executed to provide power and raceways. An additional feature for this project was to design a “Lock Down Button” that locks all doors in the classroom spaces.
Lighting Design played a big role in giving the spaces a playful and uplifting feel. Cove lighting, decorative swirled glass, and murals washed with light reinforce the river theme. Along with standard plumbing fixtures for teenagers and adults, child height fixtures were provided in the 2 through 4 year old classrooms to accommodate their needs. All plumbing fixtures were of the highest standard to ensure a quality look and feel.
