Putzmeister specializes in designing and assembling concrete and industrial pumps. Their trucks feature long booms extending up to 200 feet, which helps facilitate concrete pouring at hard-to-reach construction sites. Harwood has provided engineering services for the Sturtevant location since it opened in 1994.
Four years after the Racine plant was inaugurated, plans were initiated to expand the facility’s size, effectively doubling it. This expansion included the addition of a Painting and Research & Development (R&D) area, truck engine load test bays, and new 40-foot exterior walls to support the specialized assembly systems for the manufacturer’s concrete pumps.
The campus now covers over 200,000 square feet and counting. Recent work includes an expanded south parking lot completed in 2018 and a comprehensive assessment of the mechanical, electrical, plumbing, civil, and structural infrastructure throughout the facility conducted in 2021.
