Located on the Ground Floor is an operating room caliber, state of the art organ procedure room and anteroom (to separate non-sterile areas), and work room. To aid in keeping the environment sterile, sliding ICU doors with close proximity door controllers were installed for hands-free access and increased efficiency during the delicate timing of a procedure.
A very low existing structure along with mechanical and electrical systems, never intended for such a use, presented unique challenges for the team. The design team had to give great consideration to incorporating creative concepts to regulate room pressures, provide HEPA level filtration for the procedure and ante rooms, maintaining acceptable temperatures and humidity, O.R. quality lighting levels, power supplies and room finishes. The project continues to meet the owner’s needs and exceed expectations.
