Providing everyone with free library resources is the why of this community project

The Mayville Public Library assessed its space due to rising demand for technology and community areas. Since its establishment in the late 1960s, the library had become overcrowded and needed repairs.

To meet these challenges, a plan was developed for an 35,000 square foot energy-efficient building. This facility includes modern technology, collection areas, community meeting rooms, a study area, a children’s program space, and a business center, along with a basement for storage and plans for a future innovation “maker space.”

The library features a striking steel frame with two pop-up roofs and clerestory windows. It has a variable air handling unit and a high-efficiency hot water boiler for effective heating and cooling. Well-lit with LED and decorative lighting, the space is ideal for enjoying a good book.
